Preserving Your Family Legacy: Practical Tips for Publishing Stories, History, and Recipes
Jan 9, 2027, 11:00 am - 12:30 pm
Ever wanted to turn your family recipes, genealogy research, poetry, or memoir into a real, physical book?
In this hands-on workshop, indie-published author Heidi Herman will teach you how to create affordable, professional-quality paperback or hardcover books to share with family and friends—no prior publishing experience required.
During the session, you will learn how to structure your content and organize your thoughts, pick up practical writing and editing tips for polishing your stories and recipes, and master the basics of page layout, formatting, and cover design. You’ll learn step-by-step processes and be introduced to trusted resources needed to print private copies for your family’s enjoyment.
All participants will receive helpful handouts featuring step-by-step checklists, templates, and printing resources to guide you in creating your own family heirloom.
